WebCarl B. Westmoreland (March 1, 1937 – March 10, 2024) was an American community organizer, preservationist, and senior historian at the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center. [1] In 1967, he was one of the founding members of the Mount Auburn Good Housing Foundation, with money provided by private donations. [2] WebThe National Underground Railroad Freedom Center opened in August 2004 on the banks of the Ohio River in downtown Cincinnati, Ohio. Since then, more than 1.3 million people have visited its permanent and changing exhibits and public programs, inspiring everyone to take courageous steps for freedom.
