WebApr 13, 2024 · Hi , just disassembled my relatively new to me Browning Hi Power. Wanted to give it the once over before first range time outing. I've dated it to 1961. My question is regarding serial numbers on the pistol. The frame and slide numbers match but the barrel number (which I could not see until disassembly) is off by one digit (the last digit). Every gun I have seen from 1966-1968 had the year before the L and a SN between 35000 and 45999 (i.e. 8L45123).
